The Jeep® brand and the United Service Organizations (USO) were both founded in 1941 and share a common history of supporting our troops. This year, they’ve teamed up for Operation SAFE Return to provide support for our heroes by raising awareness and galvanizing community support for returning troops and their families. When the new USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, VA, opened on Feb. 6, Jeep brand employees were on site to volunteer their time and energy for a “day of service.”
It’s the largest USO center ever built and serves a number of important needs, including providing support for wounded, ill, and injured troops, as well as for their families and caregivers. As part of the “day of service,” Jeep brand employees served dinner prepared by celebrity chef and former marine, John Besh. The new 450-square-foot state-of-the-art kitchen, funded by the Jeep brand funded, allows troops with physical limitations to be able to cook and prepare meals, thanks to the kitchen’s ADA-compliant appliances and countertops.
Overall, the Jeep brand is contributing more than $1 million to the USO, to be utilized for programs that directly support returning service members and their families, including a social media initiative that will let you directly show your support for the troops. When you tweet using the hashtag #joinOSR, the Jeep brand will donate $1 to the USO (up to $300,000). Visit jeep.com/OSR for more about Operation Safe Return and other ways that you can support our nation’s heroes.
“With the new 2014 Jeep® Grand Cherokee, we have taken the industry’s most highly acclaimed SUV and elevated it to an even higher level.” – Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC.
Introducing the premium SUV, redefined: the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
"One of the most noteworthy and, to be sure, talked-about additions for 2014 is the new, clean, 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine that delivers best-in-class 30 miles per gallon and a driving range of more than 730 miles. All this while featuring best-in-class towing of 7,400 pounds. Plus, the new eight-speed transmission increases fuel efficiency across all powertrains while improving Grand Cherokee’s off-road capability and performance.
In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll delve even deeper into the new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s powertrain options, its Go Anywhere capability, premium-crafted design, advanced technology and safety features, and improved quality."
The 2012 Jeep Liberty provides small SUV shoppers with a more serious option from Jeep when compared to the Patriot or the Compass. With the touch of a button, the Liberty Sky Slider roof fully retracts. The full-length roof opens front to back exposing both rows, back to front exposing only the second row or to any position in between. Before a Jeep 4x4 is worthy of our name, we test it on some of the toughest off-road areas in the world, including Moab and the famed Rubicon Trail. There are two Trail Rated 4WD systems to choose from: the tough-as-nails Command-Trac II and made-for-mountains Selec-Trac II.
The 2013 Compass features a rugged yet refined look, inspired by the
Grand Cherokee. Its exterior styling cues incorporate the classic Jeep® seven-slot grille with Chrome surrounds. The Compass features soft-touch points for added comfort and as an added available convenience, the steering wheel includes fingertip control of audio and handsfree phone Uconnect Voice Command with Bluetooth. The SUV features all of the same features listed with the Patriot, but it also comes with the same 17-inch all-terrain tires. Come by and see for yourself and take a test drive here at Hendrick Chrysler Jeep!
