From The Jeep® brand and the United Service Organizations (USO) were both founded in 1941 and share a common history of supporting our troops. This year, they’ve teamed up for Operation SAFE Return to provide support for our heroes by raising awareness and galvanizing community support for returning troops and their families. When the new USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, VA, opened on Feb. 6, Jeep brand employees were on site to volunteer their time and energy for a “day of service.” It’s the largest USO center ever built and serves a number of important needs, including providing support for wounded, ill, and injured troops, as well as for their families and caregivers. As part of the “day of service,” Jeep brand employees served dinner prepared by celebrity chef and former marine, John Besh. The new 450-square-foot state-of-the-art kitchen, funded by the Jeep brand funded, allows troops with physical limitations to be able to cook and prepare meals, thanks to the kitchen’s ADA-compliant appliances and countertops. Overall, the Jeep brand is contributing more than $1 million to the USO, to be utilized for programs that directly support returning service members and their families, including a social media initiative that will let you directly show your support for the troops. When you tweet using the hashtag #joinOSR, the Jeep brand will donate $1 to the USO (up to $300,000).
